The Journey
What Happens Next
1. Consultation
Our process starts with a 30–45 minute introductory on-site consultation with our lead landscape architect. We’ll discuss your space, desired features, budget, project timeline, design options, and associated fees. Within 1–2 business days, Ecoterra will provide a Design Services Contract outlining scope of work, deliverables and a payment schedule.
2. Project Initiation
Once approved, we’ll send a Design Questionnaire and begin a comprehensive site inventory and analysis. This includes site measurements and photos, site elevations as needed, and documentation of existing plants, structures, irrigation, and utilities. We’ll also analyze site hydrology, microclimates, and any needed City, County, or HOA approvals.
3. Design Process
With a clear understanding of your design goals, site conditions, and regulatory scope, we’ll start a collaborative, iterative design process. Depending on the complexity of your space, this may include meetings to discuss spatial layout, hardscape materials, and preliminary plant species.
4. Design Completion
& Handoff
Once revisions are complete, we can help solicit and compare bids from licensed landscape contractors and discuss design adjustments based on budget and bid responses. Then, we finalize the plans for handoff to you and your chosen contractor. If desired, Ecoterra can also provide construction administration and oversight services.
5. Ongoing Consultation
We'll stay in touch for as long as you need us! We understand the evolving nature of your living landscape, so feel free to call us. We'll gladly meet with you to discuss any concerns. Our goal is for you to love your landscape for years to come!
